Put a little spring in your step with a floral summer! Everybody loves flowers, and wear them all summer , and we’ll blossom, too. The new florals go from pastels to sport to techno and the trend becomes the true winner of the spring/summer 2014 collections. the in pattern of the season, the essence of the inspiration of many, if not all the designers. We love the femininity of floral prints. Find them this season on floaty dresses, smart suits, slinky gowns, and retro jumpsuits. Last year, it was all about delicate pastels. This time around, shouty blooms burst forth, and pale primroses clung to vibrant backdrops. Others seem to have been painted on with bold brush strokes, like a Van Gogh. The 3D applications, the hand painted patterns, flowers are more than just flowers this season.
A contemporary take on tribal prints from all over the globe. From Africa to Japan by way of Latin America, Amazonian forest pygmies to African tribes people or Papuasian natives, many of Spring-Summer 2014’s collections were influenced by hints of folklore. The naïf prints and patterns served as an inspiration for the season and as a remainder of the art of nature. Rich embroidery, tribal jewellery, drapery and graphic prints all appeared on the runways
In keeping with a more humanist approach, fashion has often sought inspiration from art. And, for Spring/Summer 2014 the trend continues as one of the key inspirations for this summer’s fashion. Promising to be illustrated by everything from paint brushes, to spray cans and graphite, real art works found their space on the catwalks for spring summer 2014. From the museum to the runway, lithographs, especially commissioned paintings and well known works were transposed onto dresses, coats and tops.
In no way futuristic, there’s a good portion of metallics on the Spring Summer 2014 runways. A gold rush on the runway this season, as metallic pleats provided a discreet way to bring a little bling to skirts and dresses. Precious metals like gold, platinum and silver and punctuated with lurex or lamé hues of green, red and blues.
Why wait for winter to shrug on your fur. Feminine applications and embroideries decorate everything from accessories to leather jackets and trousers as well as coats, pretty dresses and tops. As a pinnacle of femininity, the applications range from oversize crystals to fabric flowers. Ultra luxe par excellence, fur gets its summer on for next season, as Pantone brights in sleeveless tops at Miu Miu and Hawaiian prints shake up our fine-weather wardrobes.
