Prada women SS 2014
Color, bejewelled prints and incredibly perfect and right. Prada says, “The spectators become the spectacle. From the tennis, to the cinema, at the concert, the playful participants upstage the show wherever they go.”
These girls strutted, old, emotive paintings of women, mixing colors with rainbows, and in an array of unseasonal overcoats, luxe sportswear, supersized, sport-striped knits, prints, simpler dresses and unseasonal colours, ruby and pinks, splashed with khaki, mustard, and blues. At the show, Prada had the walls clad by work of muralists Miles “El Mac” Gregor, Mesa, Gabriel Specter, and Stinkfish, and illustrators Jeanne Detallante and Pierre Mornet showing their styles to show themes of femininity, representation, power, and multiplicity.
The show unfolded in front of a series of wall murals celebrating that were showstopping work from the designers, befitting of Prada’s Collection, multi-visions of womanhood showcasing the political street art of LA, Mexico and South America and in turn mirrored onto Prada’s clothes and accessories.
And the the models in turn walked the runways to the tune of Britney Spears’s new track ’Work Bitch’ that formed part of the soundtrack and Prada’s support of pop culture icon Britney. And the point of this campaign, is will you be inspired by Prada this spring? We hope so, it’s time to be bright, colorful and getting you look Prada right as this was an anything goes collection.
“I saw them as strong, visible fighters. We need to be fighters in general. There is this debate about women again, and I want to interpret it. My instrument is fashion. I use my instrument to be bold. I had this idea that if you wear clothes so exaggerated and out there, people will look, and then they will listen”
