Gucci Fall/Winter 2013 – “A Contemporary Gentleman with a Romantic Soul”
For Fall 2013 the Gucci collection from Frida Gianinni, took at turn from the winter colourings that other collections had used, and went for cool and contemporary autumnal tones. Pastel colours of powder blue and white, gray, mustard, parsley green and burnt red to break up the basic black.
In sharp clean lines, with a traditional dress code of coats, herringbone, hounds-tooth suits, military inspired swing coats, and tuxes that came with embellished metallic patterns barely an outfit went by without a flash of colour or intricate detailing on lapels and great heritage patterns like Prince of Wales check, slim single and double breasted suits and turned up trousers, checks to snakeskin, fur to leather all making the whole collection totally wearable with a modern air of casual formality.
Although not wanting the collection to look farcical, the oversized coats and knitwear were cleverly placed with slim fit trousers, making the whole clothing look dominant and with a sense of proportion. With leather chunky accessorizes and cool sunglasses, this collection came with an extravagance to functionality, and had it all.
